Remote desktop access for Linux workstations is available using NoMachine software and the 天美传媒官网 VPN.\u00a0 NoMachine is installed on all CSB-maintained workstations.<\/p>\n

First, install Pulse VPN using the instructions at the Remote Access – SSL VPN<\/a>\u00a0webpage. The VPN client software is available for MacOS, Linux, and Windows.<\/p>\n

Also, Duo Multi-Factor Authentication is required to use Pulse VPN. For more information and to enroll in Duo,\u00a0 visit\u00a0Multi-Factor Authentication<\/a>.<\/p>\n

To install NoMachine on your remote system, download the proper package from the NoMachine website<\/a>.\u00a0 Versions are available for MacOS, Linux, and Windows.\u00a0 Note:\u00a0 Some Windows users get a “green screen” an are not able to connect.\u00a0 The fix is to install version 6.4.6.<\/p>\n

Follow these instructions to connect remotely to your workstation:<\/p>\n

  1. Connect to the 天美传媒官网 network using the Pulse VPN.\u00a0 You will need use the Duo MFA app to get a secondary password.<\/li>\n
  2. Start the NoMachine client on your local (home) system.<\/li>\n
  3. Click ‘New’ to create a new connection.<\/li>\n
  4. Verify that the ‘NX’ protocol is selected in the drop-down box and click ‘Continue’.<\/li>\n
  5. Enter the fully-qualified host name in the ‘Host’ text box (e.g. trigger.csb.vanderbilt.edu).\u00a0 Verify that the value in the ‘Port’ text box is ‘4000’.\u00a0 Click ‘Continue’.<\/li>\n
  6. Verify that ‘Password’ is selected.\u00a0\u00a0Click ‘Continue’.<\/li>\n
  7. Verify that ‘Don’t use a proxy’ is selected.\u00a0\u00a0Click ‘Continue’.<\/li>\n
  8. Give the connection a name and click ‘Done’.<\/li>\n
  9. Double-click your connection icon.<\/li>\n
  10. Enter your CSB username and password.\u00a0 Optionally check ‘Save this password in the connection file’.\u00a0 Click ‘OK’.<\/li>\n
  11. You should be connected to your workstation desktop where you can log in, or resume an existing session where you left off.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
