Yi Ren, Biochemistry<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Congratulations to CSB Researcher Yi Ren<\/a>, Biochemistry, on being recognized as a School of Medicine Basic Sciences Dean\u2019s Faculty Fellow. She and Gregor Neuert<\/a>, MPB, follow in the footsteps of inaugural fellows Marija Zanic, CDB, and Manuel Ascano, Biochemistry.<\/p>\n

The Ren Lab’s most recent work revealed that SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, exploits the mRNA export machinery via multiple mechanisms, including one in which it hijacks the same host factors as VSV and causes a suppression of immune signaling.<\/p>\n
