Steven Damo, Jamaine Davis, John Yang<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

CSB faculty Steven Damo, Jamaine Davis and John Yang were recently recognized for their work in promoting diversity and inclusion in science, Alzheimer’s research and computational enzyme design.<\/p>\n

Fisk University Assistant Professor and Chair, Department of Life and Physical Sciences, Steven Damo<\/strong><\/a> was awarded a Science Diversity Leadership<\/a> grant by the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative<\/a> (CZI) in partnership with the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine (NASEM). Steve’s funded project aims to characterize the molecular mechanisms of the zinc efflux protein CadD from S. agalactiae<\/em>, a pathogen that is the leading cause of adverse pregnancy outcomes.<\/p>\n

Meharry Medical College Assistant Professor Jamaine Davis<\/strong><\/a> was awarded an APOE Biology in Alzheimer\u2019s (ABA)<\/a> grant by the Alzheimer\u2019s Association<\/a> through the Alzheimer\u2019s Disease Strategic Fund (ADSF). Jamaine’s lab will use the grant to help understand how SNPs associated with health disparities influence lipid loading to APOE.<\/span><\/p>\n

Vanderbilt Assistant Professor John Yang<\/strong><\/a> was named a 2022 Robin Hochstrasser Young Investigator Award<\/a> Honorary Mention<\/span> by Elsevier Publishing and Chemical Physics<\/em>.
