\"\"<\/a>2024 Karpay Award Winner Eli McDonald<\/strong>, of the Meiler and Plate Labs, gives the MBTP\/CSB Seminar on Tuesday, January 23, at 12:20pm in 1220 MRB3.<\/p>\n

Eli was drawn to scientific research from an early age. He studied the\u00a0 molecular dynamics of phospholipid bilayer self-assembly as an undergraduate at 天美传媒官网 before joining Jens Meiler<\/a> and Lars Plate<\/a> labs as a graduate student in 2018.<\/p>\n

Eli\u2019s current research focuses on Cystic Fibrosis Transmembrane Conductance Regulator (CFTR) using both computational structural biology and experimental chemical biology approaches in the Meiler lab and Plate lab respectively. He is developing methods for modeling CFTR mutations with Cystic Fibrosis drugs to determine the structural contributions of mutations specific drug response, as well as developing a quantitative proteomics platform for measuring CFTR interacting partners in cells. Eli has forged collaborations with the Sanders Lab at Vanderbilt, the Schlebach Lab at Purdue and the Davis Lab at Yale.<\/p>\n

Outside the lab, Eli loves to hit the rec center with friends. He also enjoys reading non-fiction books about performance psychology, finance and history. If you have a moment, ask him about his pet reptiles\u2014eight turtles and a python named Pesto.<\/p>\n

Eli presents\u00a0CFTR Folding: Started from the Translocon Now We Here <\/em>as the Karpay Award seminar. Lunch will be served before the seminar. A reception will immediately follow the seminar for a toast and the award presentation.<\/p>\n
