Congratulations to Meredith Frazier for being named the 2018 recipient of The Karpay Award in Structural Biology<\/a>. \u201cI am very honored to be recognized with the Karpay award,\u201d Meredith said.<\/p>\n

Meredith joined the Jackson Lab in 2014 and studies the AP4 vesicle coat, a non-clathrin coat that buds from the trans Golgi network. Her research mainly focuses on how the AP4 complex interacts with tepsin, its currently only known accessory protein. During the course of her graduate studies, she has collaborated with the Chazin, Graham and Creanza labs at Vanderbilt, the Borner group at the Max Planck Institute for Biochemistry and the Robinson group at the Cambridge Institute for Medical Research.<\/p>\n

Meredith loves going to baseball games, live music, and begging her friends to let her play with their dogs.<\/p>\n

The Karpay Award was established in 2010 to honor the memory of Dr. Anne Karpay who died after a four-year battle with breast cancer. It recognizes one senior graduate student who is a well-rounded colleague and scientist, who is collaborative and collegial and who has performed exceptional research in the field of structural biology. Karpay exemplified each characteristic and demonstrated a passion for science, for friendship and for life.<\/p>\n

\u201cAlthough I never knew Anne,\u201d said Meredith, \u201cher work and her legacy have been very inspiring.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meredith presents \u201cAlong for the ride: structural and functional studies of AP4 and its accessory protein tepsin\u201d on Tuesday, January 16, in 1220 MRB3 as part of the MBTP\/CSB Seminar Series. The seminar begins at 12:30pm with a reception and award presentation to follow.<\/p>\n
