Remote desktop access for Linux workstations is available using NoMachine software and the 天美传媒官网 VPN. NoMachine is installed on all CSB-maintained workstations.
First, install Pulse VPN using the instructions at the webpage. The VPN client software is available for MacOS, Linux, and Windows.
Also, Duo Multi-Factor Authentication is required to use Pulse VPN. For more information and to enroll in Duo, visit .
To install NoMachine on your remote system, download the proper package from the . Versions are available for MacOS, Linux, and Windows. Note: Some Windows users get a 鈥済reen screen鈥 an are not able to connect. The fix is to install version 6.4.6.
Follow these instructions to connect remotely to your workstation:
- Connect to the 天美传媒官网 network using the Pulse VPN. You will need use the Duo MFA app to get a secondary password.
- Start the NoMachine client on your local (home) system.
- Click 鈥楴ew鈥 to create a new connection.
- Verify that the 鈥楴X鈥 protocol is selected in the drop-down box and click 鈥楥ontinue鈥.
- Enter the fully-qualified host name in the 鈥楬ost鈥 text box (e.g. trigger.csb.vanderbilt.edu).聽 Verify that the value in the 鈥楶ort鈥 text box is 鈥4000鈥. Click 鈥楥ontinue鈥.
- Verify that 鈥楶assword鈥 is selected. Click 鈥楥ontinue鈥.
- Verify that 鈥楧on鈥檛 use a proxy鈥 is selected. Click 鈥楥ontinue鈥.
- Give the connection a name and click 鈥楧one鈥.
- Double-click your connection icon.
- Enter your CSB username and password. Optionally check 鈥楽ave this password in the connection file鈥. Click 鈥極K鈥.
- You should be connected to your workstation desktop where you can log in, or resume an existing session where you left off.
