Dialogue ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½¹ÙÍø is committed to partnering with secondary schools to expand curricular and co-curricular opportunities that help students develop the skills needed for civil discourse and constructive dialogue before they arrive on a college campus. Through these experiences, students build critical thinking, empathetic listening, openness to diverse perspectives, and a willingness to engage respectfully with those who hold different beliefs.
In partnership with secondary schools, Dialogue ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½¹ÙÍø launched the Open Dialogue Collaborative with an inaugural convening in September 2025 that brought together 13 schools. The Collaborative is expanding to 30 schools for its September 2026 convening. The university hosts students, faculty, and school leaders for these gatherings, creating opportunities to share best practices and strengthen dialogue education.
A distinctive feature of the program is the involvement of Dialogue ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½¹ÙÍø Student Advisors, who visit participating high schools to lead workshops and facilitate conversations. In doing so, they serve as near-peer role models, demonstrating the value of constructive dialogue and civic engagement.
