Full Description

Postdoctoral Researcher Position - Implantable Needle-Based Biosensors

We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative Postdoctoral Researcher to join a multidisciplinary research team focused on developing next-generation implantable biosensors integrated within minimally invasive needle platforms. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge technologies aimed at real-time health monitoring, diagnostics, and precision medicine.

The project centers on the design, fabrication, and characterization of miniaturized electrochemical biosensors embedded in needle-scale devices. These systems are intended to enable continuous or rapid detection of clinically relevant biomarkers in biological environments with high sensitivity, selectivity, and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and fabricate microscale and nanoscale biosensor components using cleanroom-based microfabrication techniques (e.g., photolithography, thin-film deposition, etching).
  • Develop and optimize electrochemical sensing strategies, including amperometric, potentiometric, and impedance-based detection methods.
  • Functionalize sensor surfaces with biological recognition elements (e.g., enzymes, antibodies, aptamers) for selective analyte detection.
  • Integrate sensing elements into needle-based platforms suitable for minimally invasive or implantable applications.
  • Perform electrochemical and analytical characterization in relevant biological environments.
  • Analyze experimental data and refine device performance through iterative design.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary researchers across engineering, materials science, and biomedical domains.
  • Prepare manuscripts, reports, and presentations to disseminate research findings.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or a closely related field.
  • Strong expertise in microfabrication techniques, including photolithography, thin-film deposition, and etching.
  • Solid background in electrochemistry, with hands-on experience in techniques such as amperometry, potentiometry, or impedance spectroscopy.
  • Experience in biosensor development and surface functionalization for chemical or biological sensing.
  • Proficiency in experimental design, data analysis, and problem-solving.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with implantable or wearable medical devices.
  • Familiarity with microfluidics and lab-on-chip systems.
  • Knowledge of biocompatible materials and packaging strategies.
  • Experience translating laboratory prototypes into functional devices.

What We Offer:

  • Opportunity to work on impactful, translational research at the interface of engineering and medicine.
  • Access to state-of-the-art microfabrication and characterization facilities.
  • A collaborative and intellectually stimulating research environment.
  • Competitive salary and benefits commensurate with experience.
