Provost Postdoctoral Fellow
Stress and Early Adversity (SEA) Lab | ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½¹ÙÍø, Peabody College
Nashville, TN · Remote-eligible · Start Date: August 1 - December 1, 2026

The SEA Lab (PI: Kathryn Humphreys, Ph.D.) invites applications for a Provost Postdoctoral Fellow. The lab studies early caregiving environments and their effects on brain and behavioral development, with active projects spanning perinatal neuroimaging, ecological measurement of caregiver-child interaction, longitudinal cohort studies, and intervention science.

The Position
This is a Vanderbilt Provost Postdoctoral Fellowship-a designated institutional award that confers a distinguished title and provides access to specialized grant writing training through the ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½¹ÙÍø Graduate School and Office of Postdoctoral Affairs. The appointment is one year with the possibility of extension. Strong performers are encouraged to pursue independent funding, and many SEA Lab postdocs have successfully obtained F32 and K-award support to extend their tenure.

The fellow will contribute to NIH proposal development for two investigator-initiated R01 applications targeting NICHD and NIMH, with expected submission dates of February and June 2027. Additional responsibilities include manuscript preparation from existing datasets, mentoring junior lab members, and professional development activities.

Qualifications
• Ph.D. in clinical or developmental psychology, neuroscience, cognitive science, or a related field (completed or expected by start date)
• Research experience in early caregiving, attachment, child development, or developmental psychopathology
• Familiarity with longitudinal study design, neuroimaging, or ecological momentary assessment (one or more sufficient)
• Strong writing skills and interest in federal grant mechanisms
• Demonstrated productivity in the form of peer-reviewed publications or manuscripts in preparation

Visa Status
We cannot provide sponsorship for work visas now or in the future. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship.

Training Environment
The lab has a strong track record of postdoc placement, with alumni in tenure-track faculty positions and at NIH. The fellow will have access to a large, productive lab environment (~40 members across training levels), rich longitudinal datasets, and multiple federally funded studies at various stages.
