Export Controls are US Government laws and regulations that control听or restrict the release of critical technologies, information, and services to foreign nationals 鈥� inside and outside of the United States 鈥� and foreign countries for reasons of foreign policy and national security.听Most people think of an export as a physical item shipped overseas, when in actuality an export is any transfer of an item or information to a foreign country or foreign national. Beyond shipments, methods of transfer can include verbal or visual disclosures, items hand-carried during travel, or provision of technical assistance or advice.
